Dubai is a city in the United Arab Emirates and, frankly, one of the most interesting ones in the world. Known for its ultra-modern architecture, luxury shopping, and lively nightlife, it makes for an interesting place to both live and visit. With such an interesting location, it shouldn’t be too surprising that there are some things that people only see or do here.
Luxury Bathrooms
How big is your bathroom? However large it is, it probably the tenth the size of a bathroom in Dubai. Bathrooms there are like their own apartments.
Camel Parking
Dubai is in a desert, so domesticated camels wouldn’t be too out of the ordinary there. But it’s certainly funny to see a camel parked next to cars in the middle of a city.
Sub-Zero Establishments
Someone wouldn’t ordinarily expect to get cold in a desert, but that’s why Chill Out Dubai exist. The establishment’s temperature is set to -6 degrees Celsius and offers a variety of warm drinks and soups. In case you want to taste something hot in the ordinarily arid city.
Golden Cell Phones
Dubai is a wealthy city, and its products really help exemplify that. There aren’t a lot of places you can get a solid gold cell phone.
Exotic Pets
There are also quite a few exotic pets owned in Dubai. Other than camels, there are quite a few big cats under the ownership of wealthier people, like cheetahs and lions.
Wide Cars
What is the utility of having two cars stuck together? None, really, but it’s certainly interesting that it exists.
Free Food
Dubai actually has vendors that treat the unemployed rather well. Based on an honor system, people with no money can pick up some food for free.
Gold ATM
No, the vending machine isn’t made out of gold, itself… probably. But it does dispense gold like an ATM with cash. Really small amounts, but any amount of gold is a lot.
Unique Motorcycles
There are a lot of luxury items in Dubai, especially vehicles. You can get a solid gold motorcycle or… whatever this is.
Grooms Wanted
Sometimes, parents just want to marry off their children to rich people. Arranged marriages are already strange by western standards, but it’s even weirder to see it advertised in a newspaper.
Extravagant Hotel Rooms
If you don’t live in Dubai, having a visit will probably be incredibly expensive as well. Seriously, just look at how extravagant this hotel room is. And there’s plenty more just like it.
Suped Up Police Cars
Police cars need to be fast, but a Lamborghini? That being standard issue shows how rich the area is.
Luxury Vehicle Traffic Jams
Speaking of expensive vehicles, look at this traffic jam. Every car here is a luxury item. You’ll never see a traffic jam like this anywhere else.
Public Limos
Most people use a bus to get around for public transit. In Dubai you can get around inside a stretched out limo. It’s truly insane.
No Fish Allowed
Moving away from vehicles for a moment, Dubai has this weird thing against fish. Especially in the metro. Considering some stuff later in the list, this is particularly strange. Although whether or not they’re referring to fish in a bowl or dead fish isn’t super clear.
Police Boats
Police boats aren’t unheard of, but these police boats in Dubai are particularly speedy and expensive-looking. Just like those Lamborghinis that the police used earlier.
Massive Skyscrapers
The skyscrapers in Dubai are incredibly massive. Some of the tallest buildings in the world are here. The average height weight looking out the window in one of these buildings is 20 stories up.
The Most Ornate Starbucks
Yes, this is a Starbucks. It looks more like a part of a palace than a coffee chain.
Mile Up Tennis
Tennis by itself. Alright. Tennis super high in the sky. Epic. Just don’t let your tennis ball fall off the ledge. It could hit somebody.
An Aquarium In The Mall
Some malls have cool fountains and other things just for their patrons to look at. Only in Dubai will you find a mall with a whole aquarium in it, filled to the brim with unique fish.
Surfboard Kayaking
This is more of a recreational activity, and using a surfboard isn’t that out of the ordinary. But most of the time, you’d see people in a bathing suit instead of these clothes.
Full-Moon Drum Circle
Sometimes you run into drum circles on the beach. But in Dubai, there are massive drum circles, filled with people, every full moon. It’s an absolutely insane beat to hear.
The Underwater Zoo
Outside of just in their malls, Dubai also has a huge sea-life exhibit. This is the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. It features numerous sea-life exhibits, including a shark encounter in a cage, right in the middle of the city.
Skiing In The Desert
The Ski Dubai is the largest indoor ski resort in the world. It’s impressive how they were able to get all the material necessary for a normal ski lodge. It’s almost like a normal ski trip with how it’s made.
Fancy Horse Stalls
Unlike some of the other animals shown here, horses aren’t particularly exotic animals to own. Although, that doesn’t mean you can’t give them exotic living quarters, like this indoor, marble pen with several horse stalls.
