While many actors often look larger than life on movie and TV screens, for some celebs, no special effects or fancy camera work are needed to make them tower over their co-stars. Some actors are simply really tall!
Below is a list of some of Hollywood’s tallest actors who are no doubt always able to reach the top shelf anywhere they go.
Brad Garrett — Height: 6 feet 8 inches
The comedian and former Everybody Loves Raymond star is just a few inches shy of 7 feet tall!
Joe Manganiello — Height: 6 feet 5 inches
In addition to being a tall drink of water with an intense diet and workout regimen, True Blood and Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello is also married to Sofia Vergara, who stands at about 5 feet 7 inches.
Armie Hammer — Height: 6 feet 5 inches
Best known for his role as the Winklevoss twins in The Social Network, Hammer recently starred in the 2017 Oscar-winning film Call Me By Your Name.
Joel McHale — Height: 6 feet 4 inches
As the host of Netflix’s The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale, the comedian and former Community star frequently makes his guests look tiny when they stand next to him in front of the show’s green screen.
Jeff Goldblum — Height: 6 feet 4 inches
Although he’s been working in show business for more than four decades, Jeff Goldblum has showed no signs of slowing down. His recent films include Thor: Ragnarok and Isle of Dogs. He is also the dad to two young children with his wife, Emilie.

Will Ferrell — Height: 6 feet 3 inches
As the star of Elf, it only added to the humor that Will Ferrell’s character was so much taller than all of the other elves and characters in the movie. The actor and comedian is also known for his work in movies like Anchorman and Old School, as well as for his seven-year run on Saturday Night Live.

In his song “83”, musician John Mayer refers to himself as “6 feet small”, but in actuality, the singer is far from small in reality!

In response to reports that he was as tall as 6 feet 8 inches, talk show host and comedian Conan O’Brien clarified his height by joking, “I’m not radioactive. I’m not growing out of control. I’m 6 feet 4.”
Danny Glover — Height: 6 feet 4 inches
Lethal Weapon star Danny Glover is either 6 feet 3 inches or 6 feet 4 inches. Even the actor himself isn’t sure! He referred to himself as both of those heights in an interview. Either way, he’s certainly very tall.
Ansel Elgort — Height: 6 feet 3 inches
Not only is Ansel Elgort taller than his Fault In Our Stars and Divergent onscreen co-star Shailene Woodley, but the young actor stands a full head above his real-life girlfriend as well. Elgort is dating ballerina Violetta Komyshan (the two were reportedly high school sweethearts).
Vincent D’Onofrio — Height: 6 feet 4 inches
Best known for starring on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, actor Vincent D’Onofrio played Detective Robert Goren for a decade, and he recently acted opposite fellow tall actors Chris Pratt and Denzel Washington in the 2016 remake of Magnificent Seven. Chris Hemsworth — Height: 6 feet 3 inches
Action star Chris Hemsworth is so tall that he’s admitted to lying about his height to make himself shorter. However, that all changed when he auditioned for Thor. He told W Magazine, “I remembered reading the breakdown for Thor and it said, ‘Must be over 6 feet 3 inches and 200 pounds,’ and so on. I thought, ‘Oh cool. This is the one thing that sort of fits me.'”
James Cromwell — Height: 6 feet 7 inches
Throughout his 40-year career, James Cromwell (pictured here with wife Anna Stuart) has been passed over for parts because of his tall stature. In fact, he’s earned the distinction of being the tallest actor to be nominated for an Oscar. (He was nominated for the 1995 film Babe.)

It must be in the genes! Like his brother, Chris, Liam Hemsworth is above-average in height and even competes with his brother for parts. While he lost out on Thor, he did snag the role of Gale in The Hunger Games movie series.
David Hasselhoff — Height: 6 feet 4 inches
American audiences know David Hasselhoff best as a TV icon who starred in the series Baywatch and Knight Rider. However, in Germany, Hasselhoff also has the distinction of being a pop music star. He has reportedly released 10 albums in that country.
Donald Sutherland — Height: 6 feet 4 inches
From M*A*S*H to the Hunger Games movies, actor Donald Sutherland has had a long and successful career in Hollywood. He also has five children, including 24 star Kiefer Sutherland. At 5 feet 9, the younger Sutherland seemed to have inherited his father’s acting talent but not quite his tall build.
Nicholas Hoult—Height: 6 feet 3 inches
As a child, Nicholas Hoult acted opposite Hugh Grant in the 2002 film About a Boy. In more recent years, the actor has appeared in movies like Mad Max: Fury Road and the X-Men franchise. The tall drink of water recently became a father for the first time.
